Beaver Creek is stunning. We know we say this about every place we write about, but we just can’t help it. Colorado is a beautiful place. Beaver Creek is exceptionally unique. The design and layout of the town is influenced by European ski resorts such as Cortina, Italy, Val d’Aran, Spain, and St. Moritz, Switzerland. If you spend any amount of time in this unique little village, you’ll feel like you’re in the mountains in Europe. While the village really shines in the winter, the fall is a wonderful time to explore the area. Here are three things to do in Beaver Creek to truly celebrate fall.
The most important thing to do to truly enjoy fall in Beaver Creek is to get outdoors. If you enjoy hiking, there are many great hikes, including guided tours, that will let you explore the area and see the fall colors. Or, if your idea of being outside is sitting at a restaurant sipping a beer, then find your favorite restaurant and settle in. Fall is most local’s favorite time of year, because it is still warm, but the chill in the air hearkens to the great skiing we’ll all enjoy in the coming months.
Take a Fall Drive
Last week, we discussed all the fall drives you can take around Vail. Beaver Creek has some wonderful drives as well that are full of color. The aspens are beginning to change, and if you want to catch a glimpse of their glory, you’ll need to plan ahead! You can drive yourself, or, for a more adventurous trip, take a Fall Leaf 4×3 Jeep Tour. You’ll be treated to a color explosion as you drive through Larkspur Bowl and up through Strawberry Park. The views are absolutely stunning: The area is thick with aspen groves, and you’ll be up at 10,000 feet. These drives are offered through the Summer Adventure Center (call 970-754-5200), and take place Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through September.
Enjoy a Glass of Wine
After a day exploring the mountains and seeing the fall colors, nothing beats having a glass of wine in the beautiful Colorado outdoors. You can find a bite to eat and a glass of wine (or a beer) at one of Beaver Creek’s many great restaurants. A few of our favorites are The Metropolitan. They serve coffee, tapas, and wine, and have a great happy hour from 3-5pm. Another favorite is Vin48. This restaurant wine bar has been a local favorite for over 9 years. They have great food, a varied wine bar, and are owned by locals.
