Snow usually falls in the high country in Colorado for the first time in late September: This year was no different. This year’s first snow came on the first official day of fall – September 23rd. The National Weather Services reported snowfall along some mountain passes above 10,000 feet. And, with that, we can all get excited about skiing and snowboarding in only 42 days (but who’s counting?) Are you ready for ski season? Here is everything you need to plan your ski trip this year:
Choose the Time of Your Visit
Take a look at your calendar, and find a week that fits your schedule. If you want to really relax, plan on spending at least three nights in the Vail and Beaver Creek area. This way, you can ski as much as you want to, but you won’t feel pressured to be on the mountain as much as possible. If possible, spend a couple of days during the week – you’ll experience fewer crowds.
Pick Your Accommodations
Next, pick your accommodations. There are many great hotels and condos in Beaver Creek and Vail. Options range from affordable to truly luxurious. Be sure you consider how many people will be joining you on your trip, and whether or not you want to stay in a hotel that provides luxuries like massages. Be sure to book your stay as soon as possible, as choices diminish as ski season approaches.
Plan Your Visit
Next, take a look at some of the events going on during your ski trip. Maybe there is a show in the evening you’d like to catch. Or, there could be an event you’d like to attend. Also, spend some time looking at restaurants in both Vail and Beaver Creek – there are many great ones from which to choose. Determine which ones you need to visit so you’ll know exactly where to go after a long day on the mountain!
