Summer is in full swing, and it feels great. Kids are out of school, and the weather is perfect. Nothing beats a bluebird summer day in Vail or Beaver Creek. Many people are filled with the need to get out and adventure at this point of the year: Here are 5 fun things to do with kids in Vail this summer.
1. Go On a Hike
One of the best ways to enjoy the beautiful scenery Colorado has to offer is to go on a hike. There are many great hikes in the Vail and Beaver Creek areas, and many of them are short and simple, making them great for kids. One of our favorites is Sylvan Lake. This hike is only 1.5 miles (roundtrip), and it’s mostly flat. But, you get to see a beautiful lake, and cross bridges, making it fun for kids of all ages. Here are some additional kid-friendly hikes your family is sure to enjoy.
2. Go On a Horseback Ride
If you’d rather not lace up those tennis shoes and hike, go on a horseback ride instead. Parents will love this, because they’ll be able to see more countryside than on a hike, and kids will love it because – who doesn’t love riding a horse? There are many great companies offering horseback riding, including Bearcat Stables and Beaver Creek Stables. Both have many great packages and options everyone in your family will enjoy.
3. Go On a 4×4 Trip
If you have kids who are a bit older, then consider going on a 4×4 trip. Above and Beyond 4×4 Guides offers many fun and exciting off-road trips each and every one in your family will love. There are many different vehicles to choose from for your adventure. You’ll enjoy 2 ½ hours of fun exploring the Castle Peak Wilderness Area, including Blue Lake, as you explore different mountain ranges and catch glimpses of wildlife in the gorgeous fields of wildflowers. You’ll experience the Vail Valley like never before!
4. Head to Epic Discovery
Vail Mountain isn’t fun just during the winter. In the summer, you’ll find Epic Discovery – a park filled with fun, adventurous activities. There are ziplines, adventure courses, a mountain coaster, summer tubing, bungee trampoline, discovery center, disc golf, and much more. Plus, you get to take a scenic ride up the gondola to get there – which is fun for kids and adults. You’ll get gorgeous views of the valley, and the kids will be able to run off some energy.
5. Learn at Imagination Station
Learn at the Imagination Station – located at the Vail Rec Center, your kids can enjoy a fun play space, with a Play Wall, hyperbolic funnel (to learn about planetary motion), builder boards, a light table, and much more. The Imagination Station is open Monday – Friday from 10am to 5pm. Let the kids learn, and enjoy an afternoon indoors if it’s raining, or you need a break from the Colorado sun!
