Legend Has It: Fly Fishing in Eagle County During Run-Off
An old time fly fishing guide once told me that the rivers have reached their peak when you see a solid patch of grass all the way across the middle of Riva Ridge (Vail Mountains quintessential ski run) from the view you can see from Vail Village. As of June 17th, we still see all snow and no grass, so& accordingly to local legend, the rivers are still on their way up.
High water fly fishing is tough right now. Gore Creek recommends you fish at Homestake Creek until the rivers drop or until you see grass all the way across Riva Ridge. We will keep you updated weekly on the Riva Ridge Legend.
