Ski season is almost here! While the Denver area hasn’t seen any snow, those in the higher country have: Vail and Beaver Creek have already received snow. This means opening weekend (which is just over a month away) should have some great snow conditions. There are some great events in store for opening weekend in both Vail and Beaver Creek. Here’s a look at what you can expect:
Opening Weekend Events in Beaver Creek
The town of Beaver Creek is hosting a wide variety of fun events to kick of ski season. Here’s an overview of the fun things you should be sure to attend (for a full schedule of events, including times and locations, visit Beaver Creek Resort’s website).
Opening Day: Opening day is November 23rd – the day before Thanksgiving. Not only can you ski for the first time this season, you can enjoy some delicious cookies, complimentary hot chocolate, and more.
- World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition: This event is as delicious as it sounds. Five cookie-baking finalists will serve their cookies to the crowds (over 5,000 cookies will be served), and a winner will be crowned.
- Prizes and Cocoa: At the base of Centennial Lift on November 23rd, you can enjoy complimentary cocoa, and enter to win some great prizes.
Opening Weekend: We know that you’ll still be a bit full of Thanksgiving dinner, but we also know you’ll be skiing the weekend after in beaver Creek. There are also some great events, including a kick-off to the Christmas season.
- Tree Lighting: On November 25th, Beaver Creek will hold it’s 36th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. There will be poetry contests, musical performances, ice skating shows, and even an appearance from Santa himself.
- Santa’s Workshop: On November 25th, bring your whole family to Santa’s Workshop, where you can decorate cookies, make crafts, and meet Santa!
Opening Weekend Events in Vail
The calendar of events hasn’t yet been released for Vail, but there opening day is on the 18th of November – only a little over a month away! Each year, they have a big celebration, complete with giveaways, lots of swag, and breakfast burritos. Check their events calendar to stay updated about the celebration!
