Vail Valley is no stranger to the changes of fall; the days are getting shorter, the temperatures are gradually dropping, and the summer festivities come to a close. Fortunately, the community of Vail rears not its happy head in the midst of these changes, and dares instead to celebrate the fall with an array of different community-wide events. This weekend, beginning on Friday, September the 19th, Strawberry Park and the Vilar Performing Arts Centre will play host to an array of bands ranging from generes including folk-Americana to soulful performances by Patty Griffin. The festivities begin at 11:30 am on Saturday the 20th at Strawberry Park, and that night doors open at 7:00pm at the Vilar Performing Arts Center for the headlining acts.
In the midst of the Rendezvous music festival, Vail is also celebrating the beginning of the wine season with the Harvest Wine Crush and Stomp. Beginning Saturday, September 20th at 9am, guests and attendees are encouraged to purchase a bottle of local wine to savor the local flavor as the “I Love Lucy” themed contestants kick off their shoes and stomp onto the grapes. The traditional crushing and stomping of the berries is a great kickoff to the winemaking process by celebrating the primary fermentation. So bring out your best “I love Lucy” dress; best dressed Lucy wins a $150 cash prize and second place wins 2 bottles of the locally stomped and fermented wine.
