TONIGHT on Rocky Mountain PBS: The Vail International Dance Festival

The spectacular Vail International Dance Festival will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this summer, July 28 through August 10.  vaildance

TONIGHT, (Thursday, May 9)  all Rocky Mountain PBS affiliate stations throughout the state of Colorado will premiere a new documentary film entitled “The Altitude of Dance”,  at 8:30pm (MST). 

Two years in the making, the 26-minute film by Nel Shelby Productions chronicles the breathtaking and unique dance festival.  The beauty and grace of the 2011 and 2012 Vail International Dance Festivals will be on full display.

Set against the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, “The Altitude of Dance” follows world-renowned dancers and choreographers that flock to Vail, creating lasting friendships that continue to celebrate the world of dance.  The music used throughout the documentary is Brooklyn Rider's Philip Glass String Quartet #3, "Mishima."

"This film by Nel Shelby captures the spirit of the Vail International Dance Festival," said festival director Damian Woetzel.  "In addition to documenting the marvelous dancers that grace our stages each year, ‘The Altitude of Dance’ gives a glimpse behind the curtain to a world that audiences very rarely see."
