If you enjoy kayaking, rafting, or paddling Gore Creek in Vail, consider heading to the Vail Whitewater Race Series, taking place every Tuesday night through June 7th. This Vail whitewater rafting and kayaking event provides fun for all, whether you’re participating, or simply watching the race. Learn more about the event below:
About the Vail Whitewater Race Series
The annual Vail Whitewater Race Series is hosted by the Vail Recreation District and Alpine Quest Sports. There are three different categories within the race:
- Kayak (Under 9’6” Long)
- Two-Person Raft
- Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP)
Each week, there are different course challenges that are decided upon the day before the race, depending on river flows. Each race consists of two rounds: The first round is an individual time trial, the second is a head-to-head race.
Registration for the Event:
Everyone ages 16 and up with intermediate to expert kayak or rafting abilities are welcome to participate. The creek is a class III whitewater, and can be a fun way to sharpen your skills and enjoy the area! To register, visit the Vail Recreation District website, where you can register online or download a registration form. You can also find the registration prices, which include race day registration prices, as well as the cost for registering for the entire series.
Vail Whitewater Race Series After Party
After each race, an after party is held in Vail Village. All race participants and spectators (over the age of 21) can enjoy a free New Belgium Brewing Company beer! Winners in all three categories can expect cash and product prizes to be awarded. Be sure to confirm the location of each after party, as it is held at a different location each week!
